I love working on the IVOH Summit
I love it when we start working on the Images & Voices of Hope World Summit. All of us who work on IVOH search the media landscape for the most interesting and worthy work being done in media today. This year's theme, Inspiring Media in an Open Source World, has led us into some interesting new places. We're reading the Nieman Report's current issue on What's Next for the News: the Digital Landscape. We're combing through the archives of what happened at the recent Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival. We're talking with gamers and with those covering the Gulf Oil story - in all media.
It seems that last year's anxiety about the sea changes in journalism have given way to exuberance about the emergent media world. It's creative. It's ubiquitous. And it is bringing some new players with big hearts and great creative talent onto the field of media creation. Take Karma Tube, managed by Birju Pandya and Shephali Patel, which now has 600 videos - 1 million hits a month and an entirely volunteer team.
In last year's IVOH Thought Leader Dialogues, nationally syndicated columnist Connie Schultz was wary - to say the least-about the tsunami effect of new media on traditional newsrooms. Since then, she has turned social media into a seamless extension of her writing for Parade Magazine and the hundreds of newspapers.
Of course a big part of the Summit is the chance to see new work and work in progress. If you have ideas, click here to submit them and we will follow up to see if we can make room for it in the interesting Japanese Pecha Kucha session. Most important. Plan now to come and register today. We need your voice in the room.
