Thomas Berry's dream of a New World Story

This year the world lost Thomas Berry, the cultural historian who, in his book Dreams of the Earth, first said, “the world needs a new story.”  I don’t think there are very many people in the world who would disagree with this – especially among the world’s media and arts community, which is constantly engaged in writing and disseminating the stories of the world. But the creation of a new world story requires an elevated “inner media;” it requires an inner awareness that our loving nature, our moral beauty, and our sense of kinship with one another and with the earth are the truth about us.  When we claim this as our true nature and live from this inner awareness, we cannot help but create the new story of the world that Berry was dreaming about.
