Announcing IVOH's New Executive Director

It is a very sweet moment to share the announcement that we've hired Susy Schultz as our Executive Director for Images & Voices of Hope. In fact, it's a challenge not to gush. Susy is an award-winning journalist and the perfect person to lead IVOH and build on our international mission of "media as an agent of world benefit."

BRING ON THE RENAISSANCE!

Every year I take new inspiration from the Images & Voices of Hope Summit. But this year, I experienced not only an epiphany about the future of journalism, but a glimmer of real hope.

Shooting in the Wild!

Chris Palmer founded the Center for Environmental Filmmaking at American University and is a worldclass wildlife film producer. Now he's also the author of a new book, "Shooting in the Wild: An Insiders Account of Making Movies in the Animal Kingdom." His book explores the hidden side of wildlife film-making where too often there's  sensationalism, distortion, and animal cruelty. This weekend Geri herself landed on the front page of the Style section of the Washington Post.

My Rocky: A proud tradition...

Here's a powerful tribute to the Rocky Mountain News, which served its community just short of 150 years. It's the passing of a great newspaper and an era when subscribing to the local newspaper was a shared part of citizenship.

Lifting Spirits

One of my top journalism heroes is Al Tompkins, Broadcast and Online Leader at the Poynter Institute. He's a powerhouse of inspiration. Everyday. I subscribe to his blog, "Al's Morning Meeting." This one has particular resonance for Images and Voices of Hope. Al writes about

"How Ads and Stories Can Lift Spirits During Tough Times"

Check it out. It's a vision of what media can do to promote hope rather than despair.
