The Lindsay Gund Youth Fund
At age 21, Lindsay Gund was the youngest member of the Images & Voices of Hope team helping to plan our annual World Summit. However, in March 2010, while at home in Washington DC during spring break, Lindsay died in a car accident. To honor her memory and her mission to attract more young voices to our annual summit, we've set up the Lindsay Gund Fund to help bring in Lindsay Gund Fellows.
After attending her first summit in 2009, Lindsay bubbled over with ideas and volunteered to serve on the management team. Her enthusiastic vision for future summits was coupled with tenacity. She wanted to share the Images & Voices of Hope summit experience by attracting more young media makers to our dialogues. It's worth noting that one of her many gifts was her uncanny ability to be as outspoken as she was diplomatic. Lindsay will be remembered for her service, fearlessness and infectious smile.
Lindsay was a senior communications major at Denison University in Ohio. It's clear she touched many lives and proved to be wise beyond her years. Her young life and hopes were celebrated at her funeral, where hundreds of young people came and many shared stories about how Lindsay inspired them. More than a few considered her to be their best friend.
We've been deeply touched by Lindsay's spirit and will honor her memory with Lindsay Gund Fellows... youth who follow in her firm footsteps and are motivated to make the world a better place through media for social change.
Donate Today!
Several of this year's IVOH Youth will attend this year's World Summit because of the generous donations the Gund Fund has received in Lindsay's name. Please make a point of introducing yourself to IVOH Youth during the Summit and we welcome your contributions to this important program in the years ahead. See the IVOH Youth page for this year's Fellows.
