Join us for a conversation about how the arts can create positive change
For years, Images & Voices of Hope has convened local conversations around the world to give people in the media and the arts a chance to discuss, share and reflect on their work. Our first local conversation this year will be in Coconut Grove, Miami, on Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. ET.
Titled “Ignite New Vision, Embrace Possibility,” the conversation will address the power of the arts to create positive change.
Our guest speaker will be Thom Collins, director of the new Perez Art Museum, which just opened in December.
In his own words, Collins is “an arts administrator, art historian, educator and author with more than 15 years of experience in museum leadership. He joined Miami Art Museum as director in 2010. Since taking his post, Collins has been the driving force behind the museum’s transition to its new Herzog & de Meuron-designed facility in Miami’s Museum Park, opening in 2013 as Pérez Art Museum Miami.
“Guided by Collins’ vision, the Museum has strengthened its institutional mission with a renewed commitment to expanding its educational and public outreach as well as its permanent collection with works that capture artistic creativity across time, region, and discipline and have a special resonance in the Miami community.”
One of our other speakers is Amy Rosenberg, director of campus and community programs at YoungArts, an organization that identifies young artists and invests in their development. She also founded the Overtown Music Project, a nonprofit that celebrates the music and history of Overtown, a historically African American neighborhood in Miami.
