Make your mark on media by making a year-end donation to ivoh

Dear friends,

We often hear from people who tell us they’ve stopped tuning into the news because it leaves them feeling helpless and hopeless. You’ve probably felt this way at some point over the past year, too, when following media coverage of tragedies, economic woes, and political tensions in the U.S. and abroad.

Now, more than ever, we need stories that will give us a sense of hope.

At Images & Voices of Hope (ivoh), we’re working to change the media landscape for the better – by providing media practitioners with opportunities to tell stories about how people and communities are navigating the “messy middle” — and transitioning from a place of despair to a place of resilience in the aftermath of difficult times. These restorative narratives, as we call them, have the potential to empower and engage people and communities on a deeper level, by helping them find meaningful pathways forward.

ivoh’s work in this area is driven by our mission of strengthening the media’s role as an agent of change and world benefit and it’s made possible by people like you. Throughout the years, we’ve relied on the generosity of volunteers and donors who see the potential for media to play a more positive role in the world. As the end of the year approaches, we’re asking that you show your support for ivoh by making a tax-deductible donation.

Your donation will help support ivoh’s programs and events, including our Restorative Narrative Fellows Program, our annual media summit, and our website, where we publish stories about how the media can be a force for good. We define “media” broadly — to include photographers, filmmakers, journalists, gamers, marketers/advertisers, and those working at the intersection of storytelling and the arts.

As we look ahead to 2017, we are eager to develop more educational tools for media practitioners and educators who want to embrace, practice, and teach the Restorative Narrative genre. With your support, we can work toward achieving this goal.

To us, positive change is about focusing on the world we want to live in or the world we want to create — not just problem solving the world we have. It’s not about glossing difficult truths; it’s about amplifying the best in human nature and whenever possible shining a light on the steps we can take toward the future we want. As an ivoh supporter, you’ll be helping us carve out a better future for media – and ultimately the people and communities that media serves.
