Bill Mitchell is a veteran reporter and editor who has worked mostly online for more than 20 years. He co-founded a news and marketing initiative called Detroit143.org. Previously, Bill led the team that created Poynter Online, a leading resource for journalists worldwide, and later taught entrepreneurial journalism at Poynter. Before joining Poynter, Bill helped create Universal Uclick, the digital arm of University Press Syndicate. As director of electronic publishing at the San Jose Mercury News from 1992 to 1995, he led the team that built Mercury Center, one of the world’s first electronic newspapers. Previously, Bill was a reporter, editor, Washington correspondent, European correspondent for the Detroit Free Press and Knight Ridder, and was also a bureau chief for TIME.
